Our Statement
The team at PetrolPrices welcome the findings from the CMA Road Fuel Market study, which is exactly why PetrolPrices was formed in 2005, to help motorists compare fuel prices and save money at the pump.
Whilst we welcome the report and are encouraged about the findings, as a free of charge service already the PetrolPrices website and app already exist without any expense to the taxpayer.
PetrolPrices was founded in 2005 and helps over 1.5 million motorists a month save money on fuel.
We show prices for all brands of fuel stations across the UK and obtain data on Petrol, Diesel and Premium grades from the fuel stations and our wonderful community of drivers.
Our free app is available on both iOS and Android, plus we have a free website if you don’t wish to use the app.
My first thought when I read the BBC News article, and I directed my social media friends to you guys.
Here’s hoping you either get a piece of the API that this will use, or that they don’t actually provide as accurate as service as you do, because I’d hate to see you supplanted.
I wonder if the authorities who are promising a national fuel finder website simply do not know about the existence of your own (free) website?
Surely you have drawn the attention of the relevant politicians, and of the AA and RAC who are supporting this plan, to the fact that this service already exists – as an app, if required, or via an ordinary computer?
I’d be interested to know what response you received.
MPs obviously don’t need to buy their own petrol
Been using your great & free service for years and even updated prices and added a new location. Just a shame neither the government, the relative agencies and moreso MSM (especially the BBC) are clueless. Can only put it down to they get paid to much or have access to free fuel (business miles).
Also promoted this great beneficial service on deal sites and Youtube
Ever since I heard about your App, I started saving lots of money spent on fuel. It’s a great help for any drivers out there who at a glance can fill their car with the cheapest prices in the market. Encourage everyone to down their App.
Perhaps the MPs want a site that gives them “considerations” or at least a site they can control, they don’t seem to like free enterprise that’s not under their “influence”. Government only regulates to suit certain interests.
I have republicised your website multiple times on Next Door (West Kent has some local oligopolies (multi supplier collusion?) in place so it appears, as we are almost always more expensive than the national average c10p a litre). I have also mentioned it numerously in the DT for National coverage. In this regard, the CMA has been significantly behind the curve. I hope that ordinary people will start to be heard and the organisations of Government will start to work for US.. All the best and thank you for your website.
YOU PROVIDE A VALUABLE SERVICE AND THE GOVERNMENT COULD HAVE HAD THE GOOD GRACE TO ACKNOWLEDGE AND COMMEND YOUR INITIATIVE OF 2005 – 18 YEARS AGO. A CHEAP TACTIC TO TAKE THE GLORY WHEN A WELL ESTABLSHED AND REVOLUTIONARY WEBSITE ALREADY EXISTS – AN ENTERPRISE INITIATED SO LONG AGO – PRETTY POOR STUFF BUT SUCCESSFUL WITHOUT WITHOUT THEIR SUPPORT.
WELL DONE, RICHARD OSTLER,BOGNOR REGIS. 7/7/2023
